3 Card Poker is a Poker Spin-off
Almost any popular phenomenon has a spin-off, and some have more than one. Think about Star Trek, for example: the original series was shown in the 1960s and since then, there have been at least four spin-off series. The same is true with casino gaming. Poker, as one of the most popular casino games, has produced almost more variations than many other casino games. 3-Card Poker is just one of those variations.
3-Card Poker
In 3-Card Poker, as the name implies, the player is only dealt three cards, as opposed to the four or five dealt to the player in the standard Poker game. Since it isn't possible to achieve hands put together with four or five cards, only the following combinations remain:
Straight flush - A sequence of cards of the same suit
3 of a kind - Three cards of the same denomination
Straight - All the cards in sequence by denomination
Flush - All cards are of the same suit
Pair - Two cards made of the same denomination
High card - the last resort when you have nothing else
These combinations of cards are listen in order of superiority within the game.
3 Card Poker Options
Also, in each hand of 3-Card Poker, you are eligible to play two games, either separately or at the same time. These games are Pair Plus and Ante & Play. Many experienced players choose to play both in each hand because the chances of winning are greater. In Pair Plus, the player wins if he or she has a pair of cards of the same denomination, no matter whether the dealer has another pair that is of higher denomination. In Ante & Play, who has the higher denomination matters. In this game, the player bets ante and the goal is to win against the dealer.
