3 Card Poker has a Longer History
No one would know off-hand that the game of Poker, from which 3 Card Poker is derived, evolved hundreds of years ago in the United States. Poker is known mostly as an activity enjoyed once or twice a week, perhaps alongside a football game. However, Poker is far more than that. The original American form of Poker combined with a British game called Brag to form what is today known as 3 Card Poker. 3 Card Poker fans owe their thanks to a man named Derek Webb.
3 Card Poker has an International History
Once upon a time (or really more like a few hundred years ago), a game called Primero was popular in England. A three-card game, it eventually transformed into a game called Post-and-Pair. As the betting patterns in Post-and-Pair evolved over time, wild cards called braggers were entered into the game. Eventually, the game came to rely more and more on those wild cards…until the game itself became known as Brag. Poker itself, as an American game, evolved along the Mississippi and Ohio Rivers, named in 1834 by a man named Jonathan Green.
Combining Poker and Brag
And then along came Mr. Derek Webb. As the story goes, Webb paid a visit to Las Vegas, in which he attempted to enjoy a game of standard Poker, but found it to be rather boring. He, however, enjoyed the British game of Brit Brag (also called Casino Brag) far more lively, and proceeded to combine Poker with this game. And the rest is history! This combination of games evolved into what is now known as 3 Card Poker.
3 Card Poker goes Online
A game which also goes by the names of Tri-Card Poker and Tri-Poker, it was also revolutionized by the advent of the Internet. As the web made access to casino gaming easier and more convenient, the world of 3 Card Poker opened up to millions who may not have had access to a brick-and-mortar casino. Now, 3 Card Poker is an immensely popular casino game online.
