Three Card Poker Bets
There are three types of bets you can make. The first type is you betting that the 3 card poker hand you have been dealt, will beat the dealer’s (Ante and Play). Or, if you do not want to go against (ante) the dealer, you can bet your 3 card poker hand will be at least a pair or higher (Pair Plus). Taking the second option renders you to automatically win if your hand has a pair or better. But if you don’t have that, you lose. And then, if you really want to go for it, you can place both the 3 Card Poker bets.
How to Play the First 3 Card Poker Hand
In a single deck three card poker game, the dealer gives each player (and him or herself) three cards. By looking at the hand you have been dealt, you decide whether you want to stay in play or give up (fold). If you do choose to stay in play, it is time to make another bet, which has to be at least as much as what you first bet, or higher. You place that bet on the spot named ‘Play’ (hence Ante and ‘Play’). Alternatively, you can decide to fold, in which case you will put your cards face down, showing the dealer that you are folding and hence you lose your Ante bet.
Start of Play in 3 Card Poker
Once all players have made their decision (whether to stay in or fold), the dealer checks his or her hand for a queen or higher and if so, the dealer is able to play against the remaining players. The player who has a higher hand than the dealer at this point, wins the Ante and Play wagers at the same money (if he bet $50, he wins $50). But if not, then the player loses these wagers. If the dealer doesn’t have that queen or higher, the dealer is forced to pay each remaining player even money on the Ante wager.
Your First Move is Crucial in 3 Card Poker
One of the most important things to remember when figuring out how to play three card poker (to win) is whether to make the Play bet (stay in) or fold. Some people say that by shadowing the dealer one can increase his or her 3 card poker odds, but that is just one strategy out of many, offered for trying to win the fun game of 3 Card Poker.
